Becoming the Artist King | Architecture of Becoming

Before he wore a crown, he learned to bare his teeth.

Braveheart — Guardian of the Inner Child is an autobiographical portrait of the protective force that rises when tenderness has been threatened. Drawing from Everflow’s experiences of childhood bullying and the instinct to stand his ground, the lion embodies a fierce part of the self that learned early how to survive.

An unruly mane streams through a deep violet atmosphere in currents of turquoise, pink, blue, and gold. Unequal eyes hold different expressions: one watchful, the other confrontational. A silver crown rests above the fractured face, while an emerald heart hangs openly against his chest.

That heart is the center of the painting. Beneath the teeth, defiance, and theatrical armor lives something tender that still deserves protection.

Within Becoming the Artist King, Braveheart explores the possibility of giving the inner beast a conscious purpose. Anger can become a signal. Strength can support a boundary. The part that once reacted to every threat can begin choosing when to stand, when to speak, and when to rest.

The guardian’s deepest promise is to the child within:

You deserve protection.
Your voice belongs here.
You no longer have to earn your right to exist.
